Our Strategic Priorities
Festivals Edinburgh has a 5 year Business Plan (March 2008-2013). This was based on some of the relationships, achievements and models of practice that Festivals Edinburgh established in its early years of operation but also essentially embraces the idea of the ongoing development of models of collaboration, project development and delivery. In every area of the plan the focus is on achieving key strategic objectives while developing the necessary political, funding and partnership structures to achieve these.
The central vision of the organisation is to retain and advance Edinburgh’s position as the world’s leading festival city. This is achieved by:
- Acting on behalf of and represent the collective strengths of the Edinburgh Festivals
- Developing and delivering collaborative projects and initiatives which support growth, product development, leadership and audiences
As is inevitable with such a young organisation, Festivals Edinburgh has been an evolving enterprise over the period of the Business Plan and the plan itself and its component parts have evolved, with the current strategic priorities identified as:
There is an associated action plan for each of these priorities outlining areas of work, undertakings and associated strategies, each with its designated member of staff, working group and performance measures.
The overall Business Plan requires agreement from the Festivals both in terms of its broad objectives and the detail of the projects and the undertakings under each objective as these are often interconnected. Almost all of the work is dependent not only on the core Festivals Edinburgh team but on a strong commitment to collaborative working and on a sense of shared ambition and responsibility across all twelve member festivals.
Shared approaches and priorities are essential to implementing this plan and allow us to build essential funding and other partnerships as well as accessing additional resources and maximising our existing capacity to deliver across essential areas of our work
